Network Administrator

We invite applications for a full-time opportunity in the role of Sr. Network Administrator reporting to the IT Manager and System Architect. This role will directly support both St. Andrew’s College and St. Anne’s School.
 
As a member of the Information Technology Department, the Network Administrator is primarily responsible for configuring, administering, and maintaining the network infrastructure (LAN, Servers, internet gateway and telephony) and cloud systems (Office 365, School Data Sync, etc.), for all faculty and operational staff to carry out their day-to-day business operations. This role ensures that all systems are maintained appropriately for students to learn effectively while staff and students receive adequate technology to excel in their roles and curriculum.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the IT Manager and network services team in configuring, managing, and maintaining firewalls, switches, access points, security cameras, door access, servers, printers, and copiers.
  • Manage and maintain cloud solutions, including Azure AD, Office 365 (email, One Drive, Teams, etc.).
  • Ensure that all hardware and software are configured to meet the industry standards and achieve optimum performance.
  • Enhance scalability, reliability and resiliency of the IT infrastructure and services.
  • Support the cybersecurity stance by managing and maintaining appropriate technical measures and controls.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and completing regular security patches and upgrades.
  • Collect, save, review systems logs, and take appropriate action if any anomalies are found.
  • Perform regular data and system backups, test data and system backups and conduct data and system recovery tests.
  • Staying abreast of IT trends, research and attending professional development. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) / Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • At least ten years of related work experience in network administration and maintenance, network security, MS Azure, Windows servers and cloud services.
  • Completion of advanced Cisco Certification or similar certification is a must.
  • Completion of network security certification is an asset.
  • Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Proven hands-on experience in configuring, and managing enterprise network equipment, VLANs, Windows/Linux servers, security door systems, etc.
  • Can demonstrate very good technical knowledge of current anti-malware applications, network applications, all network layers, routing, switching, related protocols (TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, SSH and SNMP) and encryption.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, and Virtualization (VMWare).
  • Ability to script common operational activities in PowerShell.
  • Can demonstrate a good understanding of defining policies, access control, log management and network monitoring.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors, external contractors, and internal staff to ensure that IT industry standards are met.
  • Maintain an inventory of hardware, network appliances, and licenses.
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills, root cause analysis and ability to solve complex technical issues. 
  • Good organizing skills, time management, and ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven customer service experience.
The Network Administrator may be required to work outside of regular hours occasionally and be on call for network support.
