Director of Health Services

We invite applications for a full-time permanent opportunity at St. Andrew’s College and St. Anne’s School in the role of Director of Health Services, reporting to the Deputy Head of School.

The Health Centre is dedicated to a holistic approach to student wellness that includes meeting students’ physical, mental and emotional needs. The Director of Health Services provides leadership and oversight to the Health Centre’s operation, working in conjunction with the school doctor and leading a team of registered nurses, school counsellors, and the Health Centre assistant. The Health Centre works collaboratively with the athletic therapists and the Circle of Care team.

As a Registered Nurse, the Director of Health Services provides health care to the school community, including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of student health and health care programs, direct nursing care, and counselling services, in accordance with the guidelines and requirements of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice, and the Health Discipline Act.

The Director of Health Services will act as an advisor to the Leadership Team to identify emerging trends and risks, provide recommendations concerning serious health crises and mitigation strategies, and develop school safety plans. The Director of Health Services will share their expertise and insights into best practices for managing and navigating health and wellness strategies specific to single-gender environments.

We seek to hire individuals who bring passion, innovation, and expertise to their practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a Registered Nurse, with three to five years of nursing experience, preferably in a school setting. Previous experience leading a team and working collaboratively in a cross-functional setting is required. Candidates must illustrate knowledge of healthcare standards, emerging issues, and best practices for developing and delivering health and safety programs, particularly those related to children and youth, as well as knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations.

The Director of Health Services enjoys a schedule that mirrors the academic year, including paid time off during all school breaks. Additional benefits include a competitive compensation and benefits package with a pension plan. Working in a collegial team environment and having access to resources, a network of professionals, and a regular and consistent patient base allows for a deeper understanding of their needs and preferences, ensuring personalized service and continued client satisfaction.

If you would like to participate in the full life of a school that views health and wellness as paramount, is at the forefront of technology, boasts outstanding facilities, and fosters a culture of collegiality and warmth, we would like to hear from you.
