Food Allergy Co-ordinator and Cook

We invite applications for a full-time opportunity at St. Andrew’s College in the role of Food Allergy Co-ordinator and Cook. Cole Dining Hall has seating for up to 320 people and hosts day and boarding students and staff for three meals per day, in addition to special events and receptions.
 
The primary responsibilities of the Food Allergy Co-ordinator and Cook include:
  • Assist and consult with the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the production of special meals for students, staff, and special functions due to allergies and food sensitivities.
  • Direct staff in the timely coordination of special meals preparation.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and provide instruction to staff.
  • Monitor the organization of food items in the storage area, ensuring storage at the correct temperatures.
  • Maintain close communication with the Head Chef and Director of Food Services, reporting any obstacles to meeting performance and work standards.
  • Motivate staff to perform duties as required.
  • Accountable for safe work performance and the safety of others as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act and adhering to all rules and regulations as stated in the SAC Personnel Policies Handbook.
We seek candidates with the following credentials:
  • Minimum of 2 years of cooking experience is required
  • Familiarity with appropriate dietary measures for common food allergies and sensitivities
  • Excellent knowledge of safe food handling and preparation techniques
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
